Spatial Storytelling: Dialogues Between Paper, Light, and Stone
INCORPOREA represents the inaugural site-specific installation in the very venue that birthed its creative process. Designed by Arch. Roberta Pellé (Pourriproject atelier), a ethereal cloud of paper invades the sacred architecture of a historic church on Via Madonna degli Studenti in Lecce, hosted by Eresie Pellegrine.
Suspended in time, shadowy fragments imprint themselves upon the ancient Salento stone. In the ambient darkness, visitors are invited to explore and interact with the space using hand-held light sources. By illuminating the paper cutouts, guests actively generate a dynamic dialogue between material and immaterial, solid stone, and shifting shadows.
Concept & Philosophy: The Fragmented Ego and the Immaterial Space
INCORPOREA is a delicate game of relationships between full and empty spaces, tactile heritage, and ephemeral art.
The Fragmented Identity: Each hand-cut piece of paper represents a fragment of the artist's identity. As light pierces through the paper embroideries, it projects the artist’s negative onto the surrounding historical architecture.
The Mirror Effect: The external world and the "other" become an obsidian mirror—inviting observers to discover themselves if they dare to acknowledge their own shadows.
The Acoustic Journey: The experience is enveloped by AEROPHONIA, an unreleased musical composition by Neil Leonard. The soundscape guides visitors on a sensory journey between past and present, allowing the invisible presences of the church to play with light in the contingency of the "here and now."
Through this synthesis of architectural heritage, paper sculpture, and sound design, Pourriproject transforms a historic space into an immersive spatial story where magic unfolds.
