INCORPOREA + AEROPHONIA x Eresie Pellegrine
Immersive site-specific installation for the Madonna degli Studenti church, Lecce
-
First installation of INCORPOREA in the place that originated its creative process. A cloud of paper invades the sacred space of the small church on Via Madonna degli Studenti, hosted by Eresie Pellegrine. Shadowy fragments imprint themselves on the stone, creating a suspended moment in time.
In the darkness, visitors—equipped with torches—interact with the space, illuminating the installation and generating a dialogue between paper, stone, and shadow.
Each piece of paper represents a fragment of the artist, each casting its own shadow. The ego becomes fragmented, its pieces projected outward. The “other” becomes an obsidian mirror—reflecting us, should we dare to acknowledge our shadow.AEROPHONIA, an unreleased musical composition by Neil Leonard, accompanies the visitor on this journey between present and past, in a space in which the presences that inhabit the church can show themselves and play with light, in the time of the contingency of the “here and now” in which magic happens.
Incorporea is a game of relationships between material and immaterial, between full and empty.
Each piece of paper is a part of the artist, to which a shadow corresponds.
The ego is fragmented into many parts, in embroideries that project its negative onto the external space. The other thus becomes an obsidian mirror in which to find oneself, if one has the courage to admit one’s own shadow. -
