The thesis' purpose is to analyze the possible effects of touristification in Lisbon. Then the focus moves toward Santo Antonio's district, in particular on Rua da Alegria. This area will be affected by an important rehabilitation project, signed by Aires Mateus Architects. The aim of the project is to connect two of the main touristic axis of the city by a cross path beetween Parque Mayer and the Botanic Garden. This physical connection crosses the ruin of an ancient factory complex, located in Rua da Alegria 78-104. The thesis wonders about the possible social and economic effects that this project could bring to the area, and introduce an alternative system, linked to the former, that could mitigate the threat of touristification. The purpose is to create a social Hub spread across Rua da Alegria, using the abandoned houses overlook the street. Then we focus on the complex of Rua da Alegria 78-104, head of the Hub and physical connection between the other two systems. This building became a ruin, because of a permant state of abandon after the partial demolition of its interiors in the '90. The aim of the project is to freeze this condition of permanent stillness, like a suspended construction site.
