Concha
A unique object born from a mistake, a successful experiment
-
White ceramic salad bowl finished with glazes and crystalline, handmade during a workshop at Caulino Ceramics in Lisbon.
Concha was the first attempt at creating the hemisphere for the Elena lamp — clearly an unsuccessful one. But instead of kneading the clay again and starting over, the decision was made to allow the object to take on its own imperfect and living shape.
Its edges are jagged, the glaze has dripped in bold brushstrokes, it’s raw — yet graceful at the same time.
Concha was born from a mistake, and it’s beautiful. It perfectly embodies the philosophy behind Pourriproject: valuing waste, mistakes, and the unexpected — turning them into the starting point of a new creative process. One that isn’t planned, but is authentic because it’s imperfect and unpredictable, just like life.
A way to use art and craftsmanship to better understand ourselves — and sometimes, to be a little lighter and more welcoming toward our own “strange” creations. -
